BCHS - New Student Registration

New student registration will continue with two sessions at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11. A parent/guardian and the student will need to attend only one session and should arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete paperwork. The student’s birth certificate, shot record, proof of residency and last report card are required. WHS Class of ‘80

Blood Drive

Shepeard Community Bloodmobile will be in Waynesboro 1- 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the Wardlow Building, located at Seventh Street and Academy Avenue. Donate and enter for a chance to win a summer fun pack valued at $500. Bring your donor card or picture ID.

Childbirth Classes

Free childbirth classes will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 16 and 17 and Aug. 24 and 25, at Enterprise Community Healthy Start, located at 114 Dogwood Drive in Waynesboro.

The series of classes is designed to inform and prepare all expectant parents. Class topics will include various stages of labor, breathing and relaxation and how to care for your baby.

Willing Workers Garden Club

The Willing Workers Garden Club Founders’ Day program will be 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 15, at Metropolitan Baptist Church.

Nakia Williams will speak, and dinner will be served. Luberda Jenkins is the club president.

GED Testing

Augusta Technical College will hold GED testing at 9 a.m. on the last Thursday of each month at Burke County Alternative School, although the next session is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 19. Pre-registration is required. For more information, contact Tameka Gordon at 706-437- 6801.

Back-to-school Services

Burke County’s first Back-to-School Cuts, Styles & School Supplies Giveaway will be held 10 a.m-2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 15.

Many organizations will be present to extend their services to children with free cuts (dark shaves only) hairstyles (simple ponytails, twists, etc.) and school supplies. No chemicals or shampooing will be done.

School Supply Giveaway

The Sportsmen Social Club will give away school supplies 9 a.m.-until supplies are gone, Saturday, Aug. 14, in the vacant lot next to Regions Bank.

Supplies will not be given to parents.

WHS Class of ‘76

The Waynesboro High School Class of 1976 will meet to discuss reunion plans 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, at Phinazee’s Chapel on Eighth Street.
