A&W One-stop robbed

Waynesboro police are looking for a lone robber who held up A&W One-stop Saturday night.

The clerk was refilling the coffee makers at the South Liberty Street gas station just before 10 p.m. when a masked man accosted her and ordered her to open the register.

“He pushed something up to her side and said he was going to stab her to death,” investigator Charles Prescott said, noting the victim never saw the weapon.

She did provide some specific details, however, that police believe will lead to their man.

Although the robber’s face was covered with a red bandana, two distinctive moles were visible just under his left eye.

“ He was a big guy,” Sgt. Prescott said, estimating the black male’s height between 6 and 6’2” and his weight at 240- 290 pounds.

Officers also believe he was driving a dark, older model vehicle, possibly a Ford Taurus or Nissan Maxima.

A witness reported seeing a similarly described man getting into that car, which was parked at the nearby Brentwood Terrace Nursing Home. Officers stopped a number of cars Saturday night and early Sunday morning, but did not get their suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 706- 554-8029.
