My brother and his wife, Angie, became grandparents for the first time on Monday.

Their daughter, Maria, gave birth to a son, Maddox Farr Jones, born April 2 in Greenville, S.C. He weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Both mom and dad Carrick are doing well. It has been a long month for the couple. My niece has been in and out of the hospital with blood pressure problems, but all is well now with her, baby Max and new daddy!

Congratulations to grandparents Angie and Sam Kelly and Fred Jones of Greenville, S.C.; great grandparents, Gloria and Bill Bingham of Newnan, Ga., and great grandmother, Mary Kelly Cox of Martinez, Ga.

It is a bittersweet time for baby Max’s arrival. Carrick’s mom, Linda, died a year ago battling cancer for a couple of years. We all miss her but we will remind Max often about how much she would have loved and adored him.

I can’t wait to meet my great nephew!

Sherman’s Trail Yard Sale will be in Waynesboro on Saturday, May 5 and 6. It is my understanding the trail includes Bartow, Conyers, Covington, Davisboro, Hampton, Jackson, Locust Grove, Milledgeville, Millen, Monticello, Sandersville, Sardis, Social Circle, Sylvania, Tennille, Wadley and Waynesboro.

It will be one big yard sale after another in the designated towns. I am sure there will be lots for information coming soon. To learn more, log onto www.shermanstrailyardsale.com .

Local shops and restaurants will also be participating along the way, so don’t forget to come hungry! Each community will offer it’s own unique shopping experience.
