CRUSADE AGAINST CANCER

Hundreds turned out at Burke Medical Center Saturday morning and took steps toward raising awareness and finding a cure for breast cancer. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, hospital staff organized a two-mile walk and a health fair as well as a balloon release to honor survivors and those fighting the disease. More than 100 participated in the walk and dozens of local businesses and organizations offered information, free health tests and activities at the event. Burke Medical Center Mammogram TechnicianTammie Salter said supporters helped raise around $1,200, which was donated to the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.
