Jamari wins Spooky Story Contest

We have a champion. Jamari Howard is the winner of The True Citizen’s annual Spooky Story Contest. More than 300 fourth and fifth graders submitted scary tales, and 974 readers voted for their favorites in our online poll. Jamari gave them goose bumps with his story “Just Silence,” which was about four average 12-year-old’s who got stuck in a deadly time-warp at a county fair. He received 382, or 39 percent, of the votes. Now, he gets to celebrate with a Papa’s Pizza to Go party with his English teacher Amy Sasser and his entire fifth grade class at Blakeney Elementary. Runner-up in the contest was SGA Elementary fifth Grader Travious Lasseter who received 235 votes for his story, “Monster Scientist.” Other finalists were Edmund Burke Academy students Karleigh Taylor, P.J. Baker, Meredith Watson and Catie Newton, Blakeney fifth grader Ashley Greene and Faith Christian Academy student Mary Grubb.
