Four football standouts were recognized for their stellar seasons at The Augusta Chronicle’s All Area Football Banquet. Above, Burke County High School seniors Donquell Green, #5, and Juwan Gardner, #71, were selected for the Georgia All-Area First Team. Green, who was hailed as a “dual-threat quarterback” and a “dynamic player” was named team QB. Gardner was praised for his role in carrying the Bears to the quarter-finals and was one of just five Georgia players named to the offensive line. Below, Edmund Burke Academy seniors Ben Murray and Lane Christian, pictured with head coach Terence Hennessy, were chosen for the Independent All Area First Team. Murray, one of two wide receivers to make first team, was recognized for racking up more than 700 offensive yards and 110 tackles. Quarterback Lane Christian, who also played both sides of the ball, and was credited with five sacks and was one of three players named to the first team defensive line.
