Local 4-Hers create PeaNutrition recipes

By Rebekah Bowen

This year, over 30 Burke County 4-Hers competed in the Georgia 4-H PeaNutrition contest sponsored by the Georgia Peanut Commission. The PeaNutrition Contest is one of many ways Burke County 4-Hers are learning about agricultural commodities and local production.

Winners of this year’s competition were as follows: Morgan Clark ( Best Overall), Cobb Hollingsworth (Most Unusual), Jamari Howard (Messiest), A’Laisha Dixon ( Most Nutritious) and Alandria Hall (Most Ingredients).

Recipes were submitted by students at Blakeney Elementary School, Edmund Burke Academy, Faith Christian Academy and SGA Elementary School. The 4-H members were encouraged to work with a parent and\or another adult to experiment with several different recipes. They then submitted their favorite recipe to the 4-H Office. Winning recipes were selected by two volunteer judges.
