What's Next?


The Burke County Retired Educators Association will meet, 3 p.m. at the Burke County Senior Citizens Center.


A Relay for Life All-Team Yard Sale will be held, 8 a.m., in the Waynesboro City Park and parking lot of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. There will be lots of great bargains with all sales benefiting the local fundraiser for cancer research.

St. Michael’s Spring Bake Sale will be held, 9 a.m., in the church parish hall, 515 Liberty St. next to the Waynesboro City Park. The sale is sponsored by the Women of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and includes homemade cakes, pies, cookies, Miss Shirley’s famous sweet rolls, cheese balls, pimiento cheese, shrimp balls, appetizers, crab stew and frozen, ready-tobake casseroles.

The Edmund Burke Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet, 10:30 a.m., at Catherine Fouche’s home, 582 Highway 25, North, Waynesboro. The program will be about conservation.


An Anti-Violence Community Action Initiative meeting will be held, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at Thomas Grove Baptist Church. Participants will help put together and implement a plan to combat teen violence in Burke County. For more information, call Kenya Sullivan-Crumbley at 706-551-1712.

A Spring Break Talent Show and Dance will be hosted by the Magnolia Acres Community

Empowerment Committee. The event will be 5-9:30 p.m. at the old Blakeney Elementary School on College Street in Waynesboro. Admission is $3. All are welcome to attend. For more information, call 678- 663-4156, 706-825-4075 or 706-496-4337.


A Free Diabetic Teaching will be offered in the Burke Medical Center classroom, 6-8 p.m. The course is designed to help diabetics learn how to better control their diabetes through healthy eating. Participants should eat before they come and are encouraged bring along their partners or anyone else who helps with food preparation. Space is limited and preregistration is encouraged


WHAT’S NEXT is a complimentary service for non-profit Burke County groups hosting free public events. A fundraising event with an admission fee may be included for $10 per week, paid in advance. Email TrueCitizenNews@live.com. Deadline is noon Thursday.
