OCTOBER 23 and 24

The $5 Jewelry Sale to benefit Burke Medical Center will be held in the hospital’s main lobby, 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23 and 7 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24. Get a jump on Christmas shopping with every item priced at $5. The selection includes handbags, jewelry, scarves, sunglasses and all types of women’s accessories, as well as gifts for men. This year, the sale is coordinated by Masquerade, a Tenn.company that holds fundraiser sales at area hospitals. The event is sponsored by BMC volunteers and all proceeds fund equipment and improvements for the hospital.

SATURDAY, OCT. 25

Edmund Burke Academy’s Class of 1979 will celebrate its 35-year Reunion, 7 p.m., at theWaynesboro Country Club. Participants are asked to bring an appetizer.

SUNDAY, OCT. 26

Waynesboro Toastmasters will celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Toastmasters International with a variety program, 5 p.m., at 841 Jones Avenue. The general public and former members are invited to festivities and to learn more about Toastmasters. Refreshments will be served.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28

A Monster Math Bash will be hosted at Blakeney Elementary School at 5 p.m. in the gym for students and parents. Students are invited to dress in their Halloween costumes as they compete in math challenges as well as a costume contest. A classroom pumpkin contest will also be held. The event is being planned as ones of the school’s Title I Parental Involvement Workshops.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28

A Community Blood Drive will be held, 1-6 p.m., at the Wardlow Building at 7th and Academy Avenue in Waynesboro. The drive is sponsored by Shepeard Community Blood Center. Donors are asked to bring their IDs.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 29

Free Diabetic Teaching will be offered in the Burke Medical Center classroom, 6-8 p.m. The course is designed to help diabetics learn how to better control their diabetes through healthy eating. Participants should eat before they come and are encouraged to bring along their partners or anyone who helps with food preparation. Space is limited and pre-registration is encouraged.
