What's Next?

WEDNESDAY, JULY 15

Hungry, Hungry Humans will be played at the Burke County Public Library, 3:30-5 p.m. Back by popular demand, the competition is a humanized adaptation of the popular Milton Bradley game, Hungry, Hungry Hippos. In the library’s version, participants, age 8-and-up, will attempt to collect plastic balls with laundry baskets while being steered on scooter boards by teammates.

FRIDAY, JULY 17

The Waynesboro Fire Department will have a 10:30 a.m. demonstration at the Burke County Library as the grand finale of the summer reading program. Hot dogs will be served after the show.

Hero Day with the Midville Police Department will be held, 2 p.m., at the Midville Public Library as the grand finale of the summer reading program.

SATURDAY, JULY 18

Free Lunch will be served at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Jones Avenue, 11:30 a.m. - l p.m. Anyone who wants a meal is welcome. Bags of groceries will be available.

TUESDAY, JULY 21

Waynesboro Lions Club will meet, 5:30 p.m., at The Lakeview Restaurant.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 22

Human Board Games will be held at the Burke County Library, 3:30-5 p.m. Back by popular demand, participants age 8-and-up will act as their own game pieces in the lifesized board game.

SATURDAY, JULY 25

Waynesboro High School’s Class of 1976 will hold a planning meeting, 4 p.m., at Waynesboro City Hall to discuss the 40th Reunion Banquet. All classmates are invited.

The Christian Extravaganza will give away free children’s clothes and book bags beginning at 7 a.m. at The Southern Bank Pavilion in Waynesboro. All items will be distributed to children only, so parents must have their children with them. For more information, call 478- 589-7893 or 478-494-4426.

TUESDAY, JULY 28

Regency Hospice Staff will hold a 10 a.m. community meeting at Burke County Library. Residents are invited to learn more about volunteering to help local patients and families dealing with terminal illness.

SATURDAY, AUG. 1

A Back to School Bash will be held, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, located at 847 Shadrack St., Waynesboro. The event will include free school supplies, family and community resources, music, games, food and more.
