What's Next?


A Back to School Festival will be held, 8 a.m.-until, at 814 Giles Street/North Hill Street in Sardis. The event is sponsored by LCW Ministry and is open to the community. The festival includes a school supply giveaway, car and motorcycle show, children’s games and inflatables. Entertainment provided by Branches of Destiny, Anointed Brothers in Christ, The Spiritual Six, Family Mass Inspirational Choir, The Golphin Family and many others.

A Back to School Bash will be held, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, located at 847 Shadrack St., Waynesboro. The event will include free school supplies, family and community resources, music, games, food and more. Co-sponsors include WellCare Health Plans Inc. and Communities in Schools of Burke County-Family Connection. For more information call 706-554-7213.

A School Supply Giveaway will be held, 9 a.m.-until, at the vacant lot next to Regions Bank in Waynesboro. The giveaway is sponsored by Sportsmen’s Social Club.


The Waynesboro Lions Club will meet, 5:30 p.m., at the Lakeview Restaurant. All members and those interested in joining are asked to attend.


A Dixie Highway program will be held, 6:30 p.m. at the Burke County Library. University of Georgia’s Ed Jackson, an expert on the iconic highway, will talk about the early 20th century road project and the byways that passed through Burke, Jefferson, Richmond and Screven Counties on its trek from the Canadian border to Miami. The program is sponsored by the Burke County Genealogical and Historical Society and is open to the public.
