54 STUDENTS QUALITY FOR DUKE’S TALENT PROGRAM

Seventh grader James Jackson also qualified but is not pictured. Fifty-four Burke County seventh graders will be taking college entrance exams soon. They were all selected for Duke University’s Talent Identification Program (TIP) after scoring in the 95th percentile or higher on their Stanford Achievement Tests. Each year, the top 5 percent of the nation’s seventh graders are invited to measure their upper-level math and English skills by taking SATs and/or ACTs along with area high school students. The high performers will be honored by their schools and the prestigious University this spring.
