Edmund Burke Academy swallowed another loss following a Friday night rout at the hands of Augusta Prep. The 48-19 nonregion defeat drops the Spartans’ record to 0-3.

“We had a rough night,” Head Coach Charlie Fales said, calling Augusta Prep a very experienced and athletic team. “Our lack of experience at several positions kept us from being able to execute with any consistency.”

Augusta Prep took a 14-6 first quarter lead and was up by three touchdowns by the half.

Though the Spartans never got their footing, they never quit.

“At halftime we were committed to come out and fight with all we had in the second half,” Coach Fales said. “That is what we did and I was proud of the fight in our team.”

EBA’s senior quarterback Hank Nunnally scored two of the team’s touchdowns and connected with senior receiver Will Dixon for the third.

The Spartans racked up 243 yards in the game – 139 on the ground and 104 in the air.

UP NEXT

Edmund Burke will take on David Emanuel Academy at 7:30 p.m. in a home game on Rogers Field. Last year, the Spartans pounded the Eagles, 47-14. Historically, EBA has dominated the Stillmore 2AA team, winning 9 times and losing just twice since 1980.
