2018 Georgia Derby Championship

Touch’s Gallatin Fire, a pointer male, was named the champion of the Georgia Field Trial Association’s 2018 Georgia Derby Championship. He is shown, at left, with owners Bryana and Alex Rickert. At right is runner-up Dakota Nation, also a pointer male, with Luke Eisenhart, who scouted the dog. This trial, which began on Jan. 2, concluded on Thursday evening. A total of 36 entries were drawn. Also pictured with the champion and runner-up are, from left, Pierce Haynes, Mary Kimbrell, John Ray Kimbrell, Claudia McNamee, Woody Watson (judge), Nell Mobley, Ike Todd (handler for Touch’s Gallatin Fire), Jamie Daniels, Gary Futch, Tommy Davis and Eddie Sholar (judge). Davis, who owns Dakota Nation, was recognized as a future Bird Dog Hall of Fame member. The induction ceremony will take place in Grand Junction, Tenn., in February.
