Grubisa Strong

More than $6,000 was raised on Saturday to go toward the “Build a Home for Christopher” fund. The Burke County Sherriff’s Office hosted a softball tournament to help with the cause, which is an effort to build a house for Chris Grubisa, a young husband and father who lost all his limbs after a near deadly case of bacterial meningitis. Southeast Pump Specialist and Beverage South teamed up for the cause and walked away as the tournament winners but quickly donated their winnings back to the fund. The Georgia Chapter 23 of the Red Knights, an international firefighter motorcycle club, pictured below with Grubisa, also came by with a check for $1,000. Grubisa is pictured above with members of the BCSO team. There were a dozen teams competing in the fundraiser.
