Waynesboro-Burke Concert Series welcomes The Platters

The Platters will perform at the Burke County Office Park on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. The Platters will perform at the Burke County Office Park on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. They were the first crossover group to perform rock music, and not only did they break through the racial divide, they became international superstars.

In 1955, the world was introduced to the tunes of The Platters, and on Saturday night, the Waynesboro-Burke Concert Series offers an opportunity to take a stroll down memory lane.

The Platters ensemble group will be bringing back the big hits, like The Great Pretender, Magic Touch and Only You, on stage at the Burke County Office Park Auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. Older fans will reminisce as the chart-topping hits come to life again while newer generations are introduced to classic rhythm and blues.

The Platters today include seasoned performers of music, stage and film, all the way from Broadway to Hollywood. Kingsley MacIntosh, Leslie Grate, Lance Bernard Bryant and Kenny Williams, under the direction of Michael Larson, continue to charm audiences in the same magical way the group’s founding members did decades ago.

The concert is sponsored by Queensborough National Bank and Trust, Rob White Signs and Southern Bank and is funded in part through a grant from The Fox Theatre Institute and Georgia Presenters. For ticket information call 706.437.0070.
