Art club collecting winter coats

DIANA ROYAL

This Friday evening, the Burke County High School art club, ARTreach, is asking for the community’s help to keep folks warm as the temperatures drop.

Along with their teacher and club sponsor Stan Dodson, the art students will hold a coat drive during Christmas on Liberty this Friday, Dec. 7, from 5-9 p.m. For the third year in a row, donors will receive their choice of “Tacky Christmas Sweater” jewelry, designed and crafted by the students themselves, in exchange for new or gently used coats and jackets. The fun, creative jewelry comes as a pair of earrings or a lapel pin and can also be purchased for $5, with those proceeds also benefiting the coat drive. The club will also accept new or gently used sweaters, jackets and hoodies.

For those who would like to contribute but are unable to attend Christmas on Liberty, contact Dodson at BCHS at 706.554.6691. The art club will collect donations through Dec. 17.
