SATURDAY, OCT. 20

The Midville Community Festival will begin at 10 a.m. in Downtown Midville. There will be food, games, entertainment and prizes.

MONDAY, OCT. 22

Parents are invited to the Lights On Afterschool program at 3:30 p.m. at Blakeney Elementary School. The purpose is to provide parents with information about Blakeney’s 21st Century Afterschool program.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 24

Burke County Senior Center and Neighborhood Service Center will hold its Open House 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at 717 West Sixth Street, Waynesboro. Join them for free fun, food, and games.

HALLOWEEN AT THE LIBRARY

There are many Halloweenthemed events coming up at the Burke County Library this month. On Friday, Oct. 26, there will be special story time from 10:30-11:30 a.m., and children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes. Cupcake Day will be held 3:30-4:30 p.m. where both children and teens will make marshmallow treats and decorate Halloween cupcakes. On Halloween Day, Wednesday, Oct. 31, children are invited to play games and trick-or-treat at the library from 3-5:30 p.m. There will be a costume contest at 5 p.m.

BIG BOOK SALE

The Burke County Public Library is holding a big book sale. Stuff a bag for $4. (Bags are available at the library.) Open during regular business hours: Monday (9 a.m.-8 p.m.), Tuesday and Thursday (9 a.m.- 7 p.m.), Wednesday (9 a.m.-6 p.m.) and Friday (8 a.m.-5 p.m.). The library is located at 130 Highway 24 South in Waynesboro.

SATURDAY, NOV. 3

The SGA Elementary School PBIS team will hold a fall festival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the PBIS.

Burke County High School will hold a community yard sale in the student pickup parking lot 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is $20 (cash), and that money will be donated to Relay For Life 2019. Registration guarantees a space, and sellers keep all of their proceeds. No food vendors but all others are accepted. There will be no childcare on site. WEDNESDAY, NOV. 7

Free diabetic teaching will be offered in the Burke Medical Center classroom, 6-8 p.m. The course is designed to help diabetics learn how to better control their diabetes through healthy eating. Participants should eat before they come and are encouraged to bring along their partners or anyone who helps with food preparation. Please enter through Emergency Room waiting area. Space is limited, and pre-registration is encouraged. Call 706.554.4435.
