HOLY WEEK SERVICES BEGIN SUNDAY

Churches across the world will begin Holy Week services this weekend on Palm Sunday, April 14, and local community churches will continue alternating the hosting duties each day throughout the week until Easter Sunday on April 21.

According to Dr. Al Wright, pastor of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, the theme for the week is “Jesus in the Old Testament.”

“We want people to see that the Old Testament witness to Jesus is as strong as the New Testament witness to Jesus,” he said. “We need the whole Bible to get the whole Jesus. We will all be preaching from Old Testament texts that help us to see Jesus in the Old Testament.”

As is tradition, Burke County citizens are invited to gather each day in worship and to share a meal. Services are held at various host churches and will begin daily at noon with a different speaker each day. Lunch is served at approximately 12:30 p.m.
